In a bid to transform robotics, the US-Norwegian company 1X has launched a prototype of its bipedal humanoid designed for home use.

Known as NEO Beta, the new robot represents a significant advancement in robotics.

It moves beyond traditional, stiff robots to humanoids with bio-inspired designs that can safely work among people.

为了改造机器人技术,美国-挪威公司1X推出了一款专为家用设计的双足人形机器人原型。

According to 1X, the NEO Beta launch marks a major milestone for the company as it transitions from conceptual development to introducing humanoid robots into consumer households.

The company designed NEO for mass production at its factory in Moss, Norway.

“Our priority is safety,” said Bernt Børnich, CEO at 1X.

“Safety is the cornerstone that allows us to confidently introduce NEO Beta into homes, where it will gather essential feedback and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world settings. This year, we are deploying a limited number of NEO units in selected homes for research and development purposes. Doing so means we are taking another step toward achieving our mission.”

Muscle-like anatomy, can run, jog

If support is needed, a remote human operator can quickly take over NEO’s vision and movement. NEO’s body is engineered with muscle-like anatomy instead of rigid hydraulics, so it’s strong and gentle like humans. NEO can walk, jog, climb stairs, and navigate your space naturally. As they move and perform tasks, they get even more efficient.

类似肌肉的解剖结构,可以跑步、慢走

High load carrying capacity

NEO is 5.41 feet long, and it weighs 66 pounds. The walk speed of the robot is 2.5 miles/hour with a 7.5 miles/hour run speed. It has a 44-pound carry capacity with a 2-4 hour run time. NEO is designed to be an all-purpose humanoid assistant to your daily life. That means NEO can take on many common tasks, whether helping you around the house, completing chores, or running errands.

Modeled after a human

Humanoids are made to look like humans for different reasons. Firstly, humans are flexible and can move around in various ways. By copying the shape and movements, 1X’s robots can do complex tasks and get around easily. Secondly, humans are good at understanding each other without words, like using expressions and gestures. When robots look like humans, they can use these familiar ways to communicate and work with humans.
